Jazzistry Swings KCH

Despite a bad cold, saxophonist Vincent York led his Jazzistry band with his usual verve in an Ellington tribute. Since he spent several years with Mercer Ellington’s band, this was a very special tribute. WEMU’s Linda Yohn had to read a lot of York’s intros to save his voice, but she could not stop him from singing in one number! The assembled septet was impressive, and the rhythm section with pianist Glenn Tucker, bassist Marion Hayden, and drummer Sean Dobbins was cooking.
