Pat Metheny: Detroit Jazz Festival Artist In Residence

Pat MethenyThis year’s Artist in Residence at the Detroit Jazz Festival, guitarist Pat Metheny, was introduced at a press conference at the Detroit Athletic Club on April 28 (right). Metheny will lead a number of groups at the festival, including his own trio and quartet, a duo with Ron Carter and a reunion with Gary Burton. He will also perform a tribute to Eberhard Weber with big band and strings.

Other headliners for the Labor Day festival (Sept. 4–7) include: Monty Alexander; clarinetists Eddie Daniels, Paquito D’Rivera, Ken Peplowski, and Anat Cohen in a tribute to Benny Goodman; Dave Douglas; Carla Bley leading the Liberation Orchestra; Oliver Lake Organ Quartet; Carmen Lundy; Danilo Perez; Arturo Sandoval; Maria Schneider Orchestra; a Rahsaan Roland Kirk tribute with Steve Turre and James Carter; and the John Scofield / Joe Lovano Quartet.
