SEMJA Celebrates Lars Bjorn on March 1

Every year, the Southeast Michigan Jazz Association (SEMJA) board presents the Ron Brooks Award to individuals who have made significant contributions to the Detroit jazz community as performers and/or educators. This year, the award, named after the organization’s founder, goes to Lars Bjorn, who has led SEMJA as president for the last two dozen years.

The presentation will take place at the Kerrytown Concert House, which has partnered with our organization to celebrate Lars, at 4:00 p.m. on March 1, 2026. A short ceremony will be accompanied by of a full concert by pianist Adam Mosley, bassist Paul Keller, guitarist Ralph Tope, drummer Jesse Kramer, and a few surprise guests. Tickets are $30 and $40 and can be purchased from the Concert House website.
