Michigan Jazz Fest at Schoolcraft a Success

Judging by the turnout and the comments of many, the move of the Michigan Jazz Festival to Schoolcraft College grounds was a success. There was definitely more elbow room, more convenient seating for the audience, better food, and more comfort at the new location. The music was roughly the same. The Festival presented a large variety of jazz styles from some of the best players in the Detroit area. It was a pleasure to be there and Midge Ellis and her crew should be congratulated for another great job.

SEMJA was also very pleased with the number of people who stopped by our table to pick up various publications or recordings or just to chat. Special thanks go out to Marcel Niemiec for doing the lion's share of the work.
