Louis Smith and II V I

The Kerrytown Concert House featured a wonderful celebration of Miles Davis’ “Birth of the Cool” with Louis Smith and the II V I Orchestra on August 7. David Swain should be applauded for his work on this historical treasure of arrangements and Louis Smith is the most lyrical trumpet player around these parts. His sense of melody dovetailed nicely with the genteel sounds of the “tuba band."
