Ford Detroit International Jazz Festival Lineup
At a press conference on May 17 the lineup for this year’s revamped Detroit International Jazz Festival on Labor Day Weekend was announced. Headlining the festival is vocalist Nancy Wilson. Also scheduled to perform are Abbey Lincoln, Dr. John, Poncho Sanchez, Barry Harris, Mingus Big Band, Steve Turre, Stefon Harris, Carla Cook, Donald Harrison, Terence Blanchard, Rufus Harley, Michael Weiss, Jazz Time Superband, Carribean Jazz Project, Uptown Vocal Jazz Quartet, Brasil Brazil, and One For All. There will be a long line of the Detroit area’s best jazz players.
As usual SEMJA will be running daily jazz clinics. Clinicians for this year are: Ernie Rodgers, Vincent York, Chris Collins, Alma Smith, Tim Froncek, Jack Pierson, and Marion Hayden. We will publish a more detailed schedule in our Aug-Sept UPDATE.
