SEMJA Celebrates Matt Michaels

Pianist and educator Matt Michaels has been chosen as the recipient of the 2007 Ron Brooks Award from SEMJA. The award ceremony will take place at Baker's Keyboard Lounge on Sunday, April 22, 2007, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.

SEMJA AwardMichaels recently retired as Director of Jazz Studies at Wayne State University, which he helped start in 1979. He has worked for many years in the community as a teacher, pianist, arranger, and composer.

SEMJA invites everyone to Baker's from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. for food, music, and an award presentation. Music will be provided by the Matt Michaels Trio, plus a special guest. Jim Gallert will be the emcee for the evening. SEMJA will charge $10 at the door to cover the costs of food and music.
