Trumpets at Edgefest 2015

The 19th annual Edgefest at Kerrytown Concert House in Ann Arbor has the trumpet as a theme. The festival goes October 20–24 with creative/avant garde talent from near and far — but several New Yorkers play multiple times: trumpeters Taylor Ho Bynum and Peter Evans, trumpeter/saxophonist Joe McPhee, drummer Andrew Drury and tenorist Ingrid Laubrock.

Bynum performs a new composition of his, Apparent Distance, with his 7-Tette on October 23. The septet features two rising stars of creative music: guitarist Mary Halvorson and tenorist Ingrid Laubrock. Apparent Distance was commissioned by Chamber Music America and made possible with an award from the National Endowment for the Arts. Bynum has played KCH multiple times often with violinist Jason Kao Hwang, who this year appears with his own quintet also featuring trombonist Steve Swell.

Please go to Kerrytown Concert House's website for information about ticket prices, etc.
