From Clubs to the Streets

Detroit trumpeter Allen Dennard took part in the recent demonstrations against police violence by Black Lives Matter in Detroit. Above is a photo from England’s The Guardian on June 5 accompanying an article about Detroit suburban (St. Clair Shores) views of what was transpiring in the inner city. Dennard was a regular at many Detroit clubs (Baker’s, Cliff Bells) before the pandemic and has now found another outlet for his creativity. He is also a former SEMJA scholarship winner when he was a student at the University of Michigan.
