Louis Smith’s Trumpets Sold

SEMJA has been engaged in a fundraising effort for the Louis Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund for more than a year. As we reported in last month’s newsletter, we collaborated with Louis’ widow Lulu to sell the trumpets he left behind.

The two oldest horns were sold last month, one to local trumpeter and former Louis Smith student Justin Walter, and the other to an anonymous SEMJA member and supporter.

The proceeds were split evenly between Lulu and the Scholarship Fund. The Fund will help pay for scholarships for middle and high school students. SEMJA is very grateful to those who have contributed to our fund so far. By the way, we are still accepting contributions to the fund.
