REVIEW: Sonny Fortune at The Firefly
Altoist/flutist Sonny Fortune visited the Detroit area last month and played the Firefly in Ann Arbor on Saturday April 18. He was backed by Cliff Monear on piano, Kurt Krahnke on bass, and Sean Dobbins on drums. Dobbins had played with him the two previous nights as well (at Murphy’s and at the Detroit Groove Society) so by the time Saturday came around, Fortune and Dobbins were a radiant pair on stage.
